About The Home

The home provides an ideal combination of comfort and person-centred care. The majority of rooms have en-suite facilities and are decorated to an exceptional standard. Each bedroom has a flat screen television, a call-bell system and fully fitted bedroom furniture. In addition, residents have the option to have a personal telephone line and internet connection in their room.

The lounges and dining rooms are a homely and social place, ideal to promote social interaction with other residents.

We provide respite care according to the availability of beds. Morley Manor provides 24-hour residential and dementia care for the elderly. The home is located in centrally between the major towns and cities in West Yorkshire and is conveniently served by public transport. There are many local amenities, which include the popular Morley Market and Morley Town Centre.

Activities and Entertainment

We place the utmost importance on promoting our residents' quality of life. We want our residents to have every opportunity to keep up with their hobbies and interests - and hopefully develop a few new ones along the way. Morley Manor has a varied and imaginative agenda of activities, carefully chosen by a dedicated Activities Coordinator. From shopping trips to painting classes, we've got something for everyone.

Keeping residents active is important and our Activities Coordinator will ensure a range of activities are provided such as:

Birthday Celebrations

All services users Birthday' are celebrated and parties are arranged. Also all seasonal events are celebrated and the home is decorated accordingly.

Residents Family & Friends Meetings.

We have regular family and friends meeting at Morley Manor in order to get feedback about our services; we take suggestions and recommendations from friends and families very seriously.

Care Home Facilities

Accommodation is offered over two floors served with a passenger lift and stair lift. We have two lounges on the ground level and a conservatory, all with tasteful decoration and all offering a range of activities. We also offer a private visitors lounge. We have a large and spacious dining room that can accommodate all residents in one sitting. All communal rooms such as lounges, bathrooms, toilets, dining rooms and individual bedrooms have dementia signage on the doors to aid recognition. We have a variety of bathing facilities, and for the more independent residents, we have a parker bath that promotes independence for residents to bath or shower. For residents that require staff supervision and support, we have Malibu baths and we now have a wet/shower room for independent showering.

One Bed Room Furnished Bungalow for Families and Friends of our Residents

Many of our residents family members and friends live in other parts of the UK. We have a one bedroom Bungalow next to Morley Manor that welcomes any family members or friends to stay for a couple of days free of charge. We are happy to provide you with breakfast and evening meals during your visit. We also use the bungalow when families come together and like to sit privately away from the main home. Please contact us for availability.

Daily Life

You can choose your own daily routine and in addition, we offer a busy social calendar. We offer regular meal times, with complimentary meal services outside core times to promote self-choice.

There is also a tea trolley that operates throughout the day offering additional choice. You can enjoy coffee mornings, visits by local school children and volunteers, music and barbecues. It is your choice as to whether you would like to participate or not, personal preference and choice lie at the heart of our philosophy. There are also regular outings to the shops, local parks and even the pub if you would like. Friends and relatives are encouraged to visit our homesat any time, joining us for lunch, birthday parties and other special occasions.

We have many services on offer - for example:

  • The hairdresser visits every Monday. A full price list is available on request.
  • Chiropodist: Every six to eight weeks and on request
  • Optician: Visits every six months and on request
  • Dentist: Visits every six months and on request
  • Advocacy: When required
  • Entertainment: Please contact us for our entertainment schedule

Please note there is an attending GP practice when required.

All resident's cultural, religious and emotional needs are promoted and respected.

The Vicar from our local church visits on a monthly basis. We can also contact representatives from different faiths so residents are able to follow their beliefs whilst with us.

Food

We believe mealtimes are the most important part of every resident's day and good food is the greatest pleasure in life. We pay special attention to ensuring that not only are our meals nutritionally balanced but are also delicious and that special dietary requirements are catered for.

Our menus reflect our residents' choices so as to provide them with food that they are comfortable with, but at the same time ensuring that they are nutritionally balanced.

Our expert catering team can meet a wide variety of therapeutic and cultural needs, for example:

  • Allergies - residents with food intolerance will be on diets that are complementary to their needs
  • Low weight - residents who are losing weight or have lost weight may have their food fortified or high-calorie & high-protein diets to be implemented
  • Dementia - those with dementia may require finger foods or soft diets. We would also ensure that residents are assisted during meal times if required
  • Diabetics - require a varied healthy diet rich in fruit, vegetables and starchy carbohydrates but low in sugar and saturated fat

Mouth Watering Meals

The meals are carefully balanced for those suffering from Dementia. Nutrition is the key factor and the food contains all health benefit elements with the loss of taste. All kind of soft foods and recipes pertaining to specific taste are prepared in the centre. The serving staff and the chefs follow an innovative approach with a special focus on presentation, hygiene and food quality. Assistance in facilitating to eat well is our major concern and the staff is especially attentive to this task. But unnecessary intervention does not take place in order to respect the resident's independence and self-confidence.

A healthy balanced diet is essential for Services Users.

Our varied diet plans contain and provide all the nutrients & minerals required to stay fit & healthy such as:

  • Vitamin B: Whole-grain cereals, bread, red meat, egg yolks, green leafy vegetables, sweet corn, brown rice, berries and yeast.
  • Vitamin C: Fruits and vegetables such as oranges, melons, blackcurrants, and grapes. Tomatoes, peppers and Brussels sprouts.
  • Calcium: Milk, Cheese, yoghurt, margarine & oily fish
  • Vitamin D: Margarine, oily fish
  • Zinc: Chicken, meat & fish
  • Iron: Liver, Red meats, oily fish, nuts, pulses & breakfast cereals
  • Carbohydrates: Bread, rice, pasta, cereals and white sugar
  • Protein: Milk, eggs, lean meat, chicken and fish.
  • Low Saturated Fat intake

Our policy is for all care staff to be offered training for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ).

Our staff work together to make our home a happy, comfortable and safe place to live. You will be treated as an individual by each staff member from your key-carer who personalise your care, to the housekeeper who knows just how you like your room.

Our Approach

Our approach to care is of the highest standard and with the best interests of our residents at heart. We provide a safe and homely atmosphere and welcome residents for different lengths of time. Some of our residents visit us for just a few days for a break and some stay for many years.

All care is overseen by highly qualified staff and a care manager with an ethos for promoting the delivery of the highest-quality, person-centred care in the area.

Our residents are people in their own right, and we respect that everyone needs their own space and time. We also encourage all our residents to get involved in the varied activities that are organised on a regular basis. Whether it’s just chatting in the lounge or gardens with friends and family, taking a walk or pottering around the town, playing cards or bingo, there is always something for everyone. Formal outings are also encouraged.

Our residents are well cared for and live their lives as independently as they wish. Each bedroom is homely, clean and private and our staff are always nearby when needed. Residents enjoy TV’s Radios and magazines at any time of the day, as well as the activities planned at the homes.

Meal times are always a treat at Morley Manor, with creative chefs and their dedicated teams we offer a great selection of home cooked meals.

All of our staff have a true interest in all our residents and have all the training expected of them.

Our staff are happy to answer any questions and concerns you may have and will do all they can to ensure everything is taken care of in the best possible way for each resident.

Our Staff

We manage our home very professionally and staff support is always available. Residents are encouraged to retain their personal dignity and independence irrespective of the complexity of their needs. Social, cultural, religious and emotional needs are always accepted and respected. A person-centred care plan is created and individualised for each resident to outline the level of care and support they require. Morley Manor care plans include comprehensive information to help our staff deliver the best level of person-centred care and helps all professionals when they come to review residents needs, whether they be social services, external care managers, Inspectors, GP, NHS staff etc.

Great consideration is taken when selecting the staff who work at Morley Manor and it is important to us that they build a harmonious relationship with our residents.

All staff are encouraged to complete level 2 and 3 NVQ qualifications and have an awareness of the complexities of dementia care. We aim to maintain low staff turnover allowing us to build lasting relationships with our residents and their families and friends.
